• VICKYS RESTAURANT CELEBRATES ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY by Guest Reporter

The proprietor of Vicky’s Place, Ms. Vicky Pour has announced that the establishment will be celebrating its one year anniversary this Sunday the 14th of June at the restaurant in Brooklyn Park.

Vicky’s opened its doors on June 14th of 2008 and has since been serving the Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center and surrounding communities.

On her experiences during the first year, Ms. Pour noted that it has been a difficult and trying time, but the experiences gained are well worth the effort put into having the business stay open.

On her clients and how has she been able to bring them in during the economic crunch, Ms. Pour thanked every customer that has walked into her doors in the past year. She noted that she has catered to a cross section of the community including African Americans, Caucasians, and people from different countries looking to get a taste of the specialties provided at the restaurant and all she has done is to make sure that her food and service is great.

She also thanked the Liberian community for the support, noting that they have been the largest customer base since the opening of the restaurant; she encouraged more Liberians to promote and support the restaurant by visiting, ordering and using the services provided by the only full service Liberian restaurant in the Twin Cities. She called on the Liberian Ministerial Association, County organizations, the OLM, Churches, Institutions, Sports organizations, Businesses and all Liberians to come to the celebrations on Sunday after church.

On her competition, Ms. Pour says that she encourages more Liberians to open businesses to cater to the growing Liberian population. She thanked the Brooklyn Park City Hall for all the support that they have shown and given her establishment. She then asked them to do more to curtail unfair business competition in the surrounding communities, adding, “Unfair business competition drives legitimate businesses out of business.”

On the services she provides, Ms. Pour said that the catering side of her business has picked up during the onset of the summer months. She also said that the Take Out side of the restaurant is picking up as more and more people are made aware of the restaurant and its services.

Ms. Pour then added that customers can visit the restaurant, eat in a cozy environment, use the free Wi-Fi, or bring in guests from the airport, have meetings or parties, and even use its twenty one seater transport bus for events.

The celebrations for the first anniversary will start at 11 am on June 14th at the Restaurant and the public is invited. For more information, contact 763-560-9912 or visit www.vickysplaceofbrooklynpark.com.
